Visa & Passport

Welcome To The Essential Corner

Before your trip, make sure you have a valid passport and all the required visas, permits, and certificates for the countries you plan to visit

As of March 7, 2022, tourists visiting Indonesia can obtain a visa on arrival at a cost of IDR 500,000 (approximately £30). This visa allows a stay of 30 days and can be extended once for an additional 30 days by applying at an immigration office in Indonesia. Make sure to extend your visa within the initial 30-day period to avoid any overstay fines.

Do not overstay your visa as you will be fined 300,000 IDR per day of overstay. The visa is 30 days not one month.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

The process for extending a visa on arrival (VoA) in Indonesia may have been subject to change. It’s essential to check with the Indonesian immigration authorities or official government websites for the most current and accurate information. However, I can provide you with a general outline of the process as it was at that time. Please keep in mind that the steps or requirements may have changed since then.

If you are in Indonesia and wish to extend your visa on arrival, here’s what you can do:

Check if your country’s passport is eligible for a visa on arrival and whether it can be extended. Not all nationalities are eligible for a VoA extension.

Go to the nearest Immigration Office in Indonesia. You can find their locations on the official Indonesian immigration website.

Obtain and fill out the necessary visa extension application forms. These forms might be available at the Immigration Office.

Prepare all required supporting documents. Commonly, you will need your passport with the VoA stamp, a passport-sized photo, a return ticket or proof of onward travel, proof of sufficient funds to support your stay, and any other documents specified by the immigration authorities.

Pay the visa extension fee. The fee amount may vary depending on the length of the extension and your nationality.

Submit your visa extension application along with all the required documents and fees to the Immigration Office. Make sure to do this before your initial visa on arrival expires.

The processing time for visa extensions can vary. It might take a few days to several weeks. Be prepared to wait during this period.

While your visa extension application is being processed, you will be on an “overstay” status. It’s essential to stay in Indonesia until your visa extension is approved or rejected.

Once a decision is made on your application, you will be notified. If approved, you will receive a new visa sticker in your passport.

Please remember that the visa regulations in Indonesia might have changed, and the extension process may be subject to updates or modifications. It’s crucial to verify the current procedures with the Indonesian immigration authorities to ensure a smooth and legal extension process.
